George Stoupe and Duarte Vale each lost their opening service game when they played Luis Carlos Alvarez Valdes and Jordan Hasson in the first round of doubles in Norman this morning, but at least they broke the other pair’s serve in the game between.  The next three games saw easy holds, but that meant Stoupe and Vale needed to hold again to stay in the set.  Instead, they got broken to love, ending the set after 29 minutes.

Stoupe and Vale survived a deciding point in the second game of the second set, but couldn’t repeat that feat in the fourth, having been up 40-15.  They did break straight back, the game again going to a deciding point after Stoupe and Vale had been up 15-40, and got safely through another deciding point in the eighth game.  Alvarez Valdes and Hasson then held to love to be just a game away from victory.  They had their first set point at 30-40, but Stoupe and Vale saved that before losing the deciding point to end the match after an hour and 11 minutes.  The final score was 6-2, 6-4.
