Matt Donald has lost his second round match in Monastir in straight sets, going down to a player who is actually ranked slightly above him being no cause for despair.  Donald had a game point to start the match, but double faulted, and Cyril Vandermeersch won the next two points to get an immediate break.

Donald had plenty of chances to get back on level terms in the sixth game, but was unable to convert any of his four break points before Vandermeersch finally held serve after seven deuces.  Donald did break back two games later, but lost his serve again in the eleventh game, with Vandermeersch then serving out the set to love after an hour and five minutes.

Vandermeersch broke Donald’s serve in the third game of the second set, with Donald unable to convert a break point of his own in the next game.  He did break back in the sixth game, but Vandermeersch broke again straight away.  The remaining games went with serve, Vandermeersch winning 7-5, 6-4 after two hours and one minute.
