About

Hi!  I’m Chris McQuaid, and welcome to my tennis world.

I’m guessing that most of you reading this will know who Erin Routliffe is, and that she is half of the pair which won the 2023 US Open women’s doubles title.  But how many of you knew anything about her before she got to the final?  Do you know what she and her partner did in the earlier rounds?  Or in their earlier tournaments together?

Although the idea for this website has been years in the making, it’s those sorts of questions which gave me the idea in the first place.  Outside the four major (Grand Slam) tournaments, and the ASB Classic in Auckland, mainstream coverage of New Zealand tennis players’ international achievements is pretty much non-existent, and even more so where doubles is concerned – and that is where the strength of New Zealand tennis has been concentrated for quite a few years.  Michael Venus, for example, won four ATP tour doubles titles in 2023, and I honestly can’t recall seeing any mention of any of them anywhere outside specialist sports websites.

My vision is for people to use this website as a one-stop shop where you can find out exactly who the New Zealand professional players are and what they’re doing – where they’re playing, what their results are and, if I’ve been able to watch them, a comprehensive report on their matches.  It’s not restricted solely to those players representing New Zealand – there are a few others around the world who were born or grew up here, but now represent other countries.  The best example of those is Cameron Norrie, who now represents Great Britain but sounds just as Kiwi as most of us!

So come and join us on this journey of discovery.  You won’t be disappointed!
