I was only home in time to see the last two points of Ajeet Rai’s first round match against Kody Pearson in Traralgon, with the Australian hitting the first into the net and the second over the baseline to lose the match in straight sets.  Rai served first, and broke to love in the fourth game.  The remaining games all went with serve, Rai eventually finishing the set after 41 minutes with his third ace.

The first six games in the second set went with serve before Rai broke to love.  He held comfortably next time round before breaking Pearson’s serve again to complete a 6-3, 6-3 victory after an hour and 19 minutes.
