Erin Routliffe’s run as World Number One in doubles has come to an end after eight weeks, the crown which she took over after Wimbledon now being relinquished to Katerina Siniakova, the Czech player who has already had well over a hundred weeks in the top spot.  Routliffe and Gaby Dabrowski are not far off automatically qualifying for the WTA Tour Finals in Riyadh at the end of the season, and will have opportunities in Asia before then to try to improve their rankings again.  They do have points to defend from their title in Zhengzhou, a tournament which is not on the calendar this year after being replaced by one in Ningbo, but there are plenty of other opportunities to earn big points in the next few weeks.
