One match which did get played was the doubles quarter-final in Heraklion where Matt Donald and Jakub Nicod played Szymon Kielan and Oleg Prihodko. Although the Czech teenagers are climbing the rankings quite steadily, the top seeds have a combined ranking which is still better than Nicod’s alone, and their straight sets victory had to be expected.  Kielan and Prihodko had to get through a deciding point in the second game, and then broke on another in the third after Donald and Nicod had saved the first three break points from 0-40. The fifth, sixth and seventh games all went to deuce as well, each team saving break points in the first two before Donald and Nicod lost the last one. Kielan and Prihodko safely served out the set after 31 minutes.

They swapped service breaks early in the second set, going to deuce each time, but Kielan and Prihodko ramped up the pressure from halfway and won the last four games, losing just one point in each. The final score was 6-2, 6-3, and the match took an hour and four minutes.
