Matt Donald and Liam Gavrielides have eased through to a straight sets victory over Alexandre Aubriot and Andrea Morlet in their first round doubles match in Tunisia. The contest started with seven comfortable holds in a row before Donald and Gavrielides survived the first deciding point of the match.  They then broke Aubriot and Morlet from 40-30 before losing their own serve, but whoever was at the line for the French pair in the next game had a nightmare finish, ending with three double faults in a row to lose the game, and the set, which took 37 minutes.

As if it wasn’t strange enough at this level that there were only two deuces in the first set, there were none at all in the second, with the only break of serve coming in the last game when the French server lost the last four points in a row. At least there would have been some small consolation that they didn’t double fault their way to the loss. The final score was 6-4, 6-4, and the match took an hour and 10 minutes.
