The first set in Madrid had two halves. Both teams held comfortably the first time that all four players served, but Nicolas Rafael Goldberg Alviani and David Naharro won just two points in the last four games, losing the set after 24 minutes with the second of two double faults in the final game.
Goldberg Alviani and Naharro were the first to break in the second set, coming from 40-15 behind to win the fifth game, but Reynolds and Catanzariti again won the last four games, and that was enough to complete the victory after 59 minutes. The final score was 6-2, 6-4.
