Corban Crowther served first in his match against Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul in Kuala Lumpur this afternoon, and got off to a great start when he won the first three games, even though he had to save three game points in the second and took Trongcharoenchaikul to five deuces before breaking the seventh seed’s serve. Trongcharoenchaikul did break back in the fifth game, but lost his own serve again straight away to allow Crowther to keep the advantage. Crowther won his last two service games to love, with Trongcharoenchaikul holding comfortably in-between, so the set belonged to the New Zealander after 44 minutes.
It was a different story in the second set, where it took seven games before either player managed a break point. Trongcharoenchaikul saved that, and then had a break point of his own in the next game, which was saved as well. The decisive game was the ninth, where Crowther broke comfortably, and he went on to serve out the match after an hour and 37 minutes. The final score was 6-3, 6-4.
